Candle care

The first burn

The way you burn your candle the first time you light it will determine how it burns for all other burns.  For the first burn, allow your wax pool to reach near the edge of the container. How long this takes will depend on the size of the candle. This will prevent tunnelling and maximise its life.

Keep the wick tidy

To get the most out of your candle, remove any soot balls and trim the wick to 5mm before you use your candle. This can be done with a wick trimmer or you can simply break the burnt part of the wick off with your fingers before you light it. This helps your candle to burn evenly and longer.

If the wick starts to smoke, extinguish your candle, trim and then relight it.  Do not trim a burning candle.

Safety

Do not leave candles unattended or near pets or children. Place on a heat resistant surface to avoid damage to surfaces. Never burn on marble, glass or a hot surface or near anything potentially flammable.  Do not move once lit as the jar may get hot. Leave at least 15cm between burning candles. Stop burning your candle once there is 1cm of wax left from the bottom.
